Japanese pop sensation yama lands in Australia this October with YURA and Eli Wan to create two nights of future-facing pop!

Japanese pop artist yama is set to make their highly anticipated Australian debut this October, bringing their genre-blurring pop, emotionally charged vocals and magnetic live show to Melbourne and Sydney with two of Australia’s most intriguing emerging artists, YURA  and Eli Wan, joining the bill.

yama has carved out a singular space in Japan’s contemporary pop landscape, pairing striking vocals with adventurous production and a distinctly cinematic sensibility. Their music has resonated far beyond Japan, earning a devoted international following while their work across acclaimed anime soundtracks has introduced their sound to audiences around the world.

With contributions to series including 2.43: Seiin High School Boys Volleyball Team, Ranking of Kings, SPY×FAMILY, Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch from Mercury and SANDA, yama has become a defining voice in the crossover between modern J-pop, anime and global pop culture.

Now, Australian audiences will get their first chance to experience yama live, with YURA supporting in Sydney at Liberty Hall, Sydney, Saturday 17 October, and Eli Wan supporting at Northcote Theatre, Melbourne, Friday 16 October.

Korean-Australian singer-songwriter YURA brings a dreamy, genre-fluid edge to the Sydney bill. Developing her sound since the age of 16, YURA has evolved from bedroom GarageBand experiments into an artist blending contemporary R&B, indie pop and lo-fi into something distinctly her own. Her music is intimate, heartfelt and endlessly evolving, with her track “Pearl” surpassing 2 million Spotify streams. Her growing live résumé includes supporting Korean rapper Coogie in Sydney and joining Grent Perez for his 2022 AUS/NZ tour.

Melbourne’s Eli Wan is an alt-pop artist and producer operating at the volatile intersection of glitch-pop, 2010s-inspired hooks, and an "Internet Core" digital aesthetic. Built on the friction between digital chaos and raw reality, his sound pairs high-energy production with deeply vulnerable lyricism. Eli makes music for the age of endless tabs, unread messages and memories preserved in the cloud. His songs sit at the intersection of intimacy and distortion, part confessional, part cinematic glitch. Influenced by the likes of Porter Robinson, Jai Paul, The Drums, Good Charlotte, Bon Iver, The Avalanches and Passion Pit, he turns the quiet ache of modern connection into something deeply personal and strangely euphoric.

With yama’s first Australian shows bringing together a Japanese pop powerhouse and two distinctly different voices from Australia’s emerging music landscape, these are set to be intimate, left-of-centre nights of future-facing pop.
