Escape the everyday with Xani on her latest journey; her latest single ‘Road Trip’ + An Inaccurate History of Electronic Dance Music vinyl pre-order

"Imagine a future without dance. Without dance music. Now forget about it and come with me.”
- Xani

Limitless as she is timeless, violin virtuoso Xani is back with the third chapter from her upcoming concept album An Inaccurate History of Electronic Dance Music; a beat filled self produced single ‘Road Trip’, out Wednesday 1 March. Whether a small steamy jazz venue, packed theatre, nightclub, or her bedroom on Twitch to thousands of followers, it doesn’t take audiences long to fall in love with her sounds and strings. Awarded the ‘Best Musician’ at the Music Victoria Awards at the end of 2022, Xani’s escapades also included the release of her album’s first two singles ‘Dreaming of You’ and ‘Michelle’, a tour across the country, and now as she dances boundlessly into this year with this latest release and album coming out Thursday 30 March with the vinyl pre-order available from Wednesday 1 March via Bandcamp.

Out Wednesday 1 March via CD Baby, ‘Road Trip’ is one of the two tracks from the upcoming album completely and confidently self produced by Xani, harnessing her experience collaborating with the multitude of producers on An Inaccurate History of Electronic Dance Music. Inspired by the sub-genre of UK Garage, Xani created this single through samples and beats, her lyrics improvised by word recommendations from her live stream audience until a regular suggested ‘Road Trip’ - hence the single was born. Amongst her looping lines and melodies is a reminder that “It’s never too late to start over. Leave now and go on your own road trip” - Xani.

“A song I wrote for my Mum - and for all the mums out there who wonder what it might be like to leave their kids and partners behind them and drive off into the great unknown. Mums are heroes. They put up with so much shit sometimes. This song is for all of you. It's never too late to pack up your things and see glaciers, or drive across the Nullarbor, or move to a new city.” - Xani

An Inaccurate History of Electronic Dance Music is an acutely personal interpretation of electronic dance music’s evolution through the ages; a party album where chapter by chapter the (inaccurate) history of dance music is tracked by musical alchemist Xani and friends. A fan of dance music and the philosophical spirit of the dance floor, Xani dives deeper into the nuances of the culture, exploring the roots of electronic dance music (EDM), her first single ‘Dreaming of You’ inspired by the world of disco, second retro hip-hop laden track ‘Michelle’, and the latest ‘Road Trip’ paying homage to UK Garage amongst Kraftwerk and German techno, Acid House, Trance and more from this album. It’s rare to find an artist so astute in their craft and in step with a genre they can reimagine it convincingly, as Xani does so inaccurately, yet so eloquently.

“…a fictional world of EDM genres according to me. Where violin is at the centre of it all! Is that even allowed?” - Xani

On the brink of what it might be like to never dance again, songwriter Xani drew on her music to create a world where dance lives on and metamorphosised into a journey we are all invited to be a part of.
