NEW SINGLE: Delivery x WORKHORSE 'Who Makes Demands?'

Delivery and Workhorse collaborate on 'Who Makes Demands?' ahead of their Meadow festival performances!

Ahead of the ninth installation of the Victorian surf coast festival in 2023, Meadow is thrilled to welcome a new release, ‘Who Makes Demands?’; a collaboration from performing artists Workhorse and Delivery out Friday 10 March via Spoilsport Records. An upbeat number, with a questioning existential undertone, this is one for the planning and packing playlists or a road trip tune for the scenic drive along the Great Ocean Road for Meadow 9.

Released through Spoilsport Records the self-produced collaboration ‘Who Makes Demands?’ was brought to life at Box Hill Institute’s Sing Sing East studios and mixed by Sam Harding and mastered by Mikey Young. The track was born from a sonic middle point, with a Velvet Underground sound in mind drawing on the new garage and punk sounds of Delivery, and Workhorse’s western-tinged dream pop, but ultimately veering off into something else entirely. A driving drum beat, catchy surf rock style vocals, and primal guitar sounds and riffs from Delivery guitarists’ James and Sam, layer amidst a slide solo from Harriet aka Workhorse, merging their sounds to become ‘Who Makes Demands?’; the perfect tune to sing and dance amongst the grassy hills of the Bambra bowl.

“It was a unique challenge capturing both bands’ individual personalities in a song, but hopefully, there’s some kind of balance amidst the pushing and pulling - a good backdrop to ask some big questions over! The very end of the song references The Vines, pure perfection.” - James Lynch from Delivery

The team behind Meadow pride themselves on their local and sustainable approach to operating a festival, with everything from the music, the food and drink stalls, tree-planting program, partnerships and collaborations, and hand picked volunteers, all carefully curated to support and celebrate Australian artists, voices, initiatives and businesses.

Do not miss your chance to catch the performances from Delivery and Workhorse live from the surf coast retreat from Friday 31 March - Sunday 2 April alongside Meadow headliners  Kurt Vile & The Violators (US) + Black Midi (UK), Jen Cloher, Kučka, Cash Savage & The Last Drinks, Big Scary, Agung Mango and many many more!

Get ready and in the mood for this year’s Meadow magic as you listen to ‘Who Makes Demands?’ on repeat.

 ‘Who Makes Demands?’ Lyrics
Who makes demands?
Don’t you wanna see that I can
Who makes demands?
Can’t you see that I am
I’ve got a few things going, yeah I’m still shaking hands
Who makes demands? Don't you wanna
Making demands

Connect the dots

Who makes demands?
Don’t you see that I am
Who makes demands?
Don’t you see that I am
I had to rebuild the furniture but I threw out the plans
No one even noticed the scraps when I’m making demands

Counting the numbers, connect the dots

Independently I built the whole thing over, can’t even water my plants
Nobody clicking the clickbait, no one resharing the rants
But who makes demands?
Don’t you see that I am
Autopilot calling the shots when I’m making demands

Why can’t I have it?
Another meaningless transaction
Why can’t I have it? I won’t get distracted
