NEW ALBUM: ADOY 'Pleasure' + Kocca x SXSW Sydney Showcase

PLEASURES featuring the title track 'In Love' is an album illustrating the growth and evolution of Korean synth indie pop band ADOY +  Australian live debut at SXSW Sydney this October

Introducing Korean synth-based indie pop band ADOY from Seoul, made up of Juhwan Oh (vocals/guitar), Zee (synths/vocals), Dayoung Jeong (bass/vocals), and Geunchang Park (drums) who are known for creating city-pop, 80’s romantic pop, typical indie rock, and dream pop sounds, taking listeners on a journey through feelings of summer, the ocean, the waves, surfing, small talk, youth: the small things that make you smile.

No strangers to South East Asia, ADOY will return with the full-length album PLEASURES on Thursday 31 October after about two years since their previous album her.PLEASURES contains songs about various pleasures and beautiful moments in life and the longing and fear felt afterwards, and features a total of 8 different tracks. In celebration of the release, the band will hit the shores of Australia for their debut live performances at the very first SXSW Sydney this October.

The title track 'In Love', calmly confesses the moment of falling in love, "it's about the feeling of falling into a new love cycle? Woozy guitars, chorused vintage synths and Summer-dry drums are utilized to express that emotion in ADOY's 'In Love,' off their sophomore studio album 'PLEASURES.' A love cycle is also not just love, but loneliness, joy, nostalgia, and fear of ending as well: the 8-track release delves into those emotions that anyone may experience," explains ADOY

'Avenue', which traces memories of youth, 'Touch', which dreams of a beautiful place like heaven, 'Hack', a love song sung under the Milky Way, ‘Model’, a sweet love song with an imaginary cartoon character, 'Long Distance Call' and 'One Last Song' depicting the affection of love, to finally 'Jet', the last song singing about the adventure of life that never seems to end, ADOY delivers storytelling through various tempos and atmospheres.

If the sound of previous ADOY works resembles floating clouds, PLEASURES is reminiscent of a beach that connects the land and sky with more lush and fuller sounds. In addition, the collaboration with drummer Chuck Sabo, who worked with Elton John and Pet Shop Boys, and sound engineers Greg Calbi and Steve Fallone of Sterling Sound in the US, gives a more mature sound.

Ever since their debut 2017 EP ‘CATNIP’ garnered attention in the Korean indie scene, topping the Korean indie sales chart multiple times and receiving nominations at the Korean Music Awards, ADOY has been diligent in music production and live performance. They started out touring local hometown pubs and clubs, then quickly became one of the most popular acts for Korea’s biggest rock festivals.

Fast forward to 2023 and the band have already completed headline tours in Asia and the U.S. and have scheduled shows in other regions like Europe before making their way to Sydney for SXSW.

Do not miss your chance to catch these rising chameleons ADOY as they perform songs from their expansive city-pop, 80’s romantic pop, indie rock, and dream pop catalogue this October in Sydney.
