NEW SINGLE: Jacqui 'Salty Feelings' + SXSW Sydney Showcase

Strutting into Sydney from Korea’s soul scene, Jacqui releases ‘Salty Feelings’ + announces Australian live debut at SXSW Sydney

Strutting into Sydney from Korea’s soul scene, KPOP's latest initiate Jacqui (fka Soullette) releases ‘Salty Feelings’ ahead of her Australian debut at SXSW Sydney in October. Armed with her silken voice and a penchant for sass, ‘Salty Feelings’ is her first new music in 2023, following her 2022 debut EP  Birthday (생일 ), serving the same slick production and staunch lyricism, with a renewed energy as one of Korean soul’s most exciting new exports.

Jacqui’s soundscapes of nu jazz, neo-soul, RnB, and pop sensibilities offer a musical integrity beyond her years, seeing music as a deeply spiritual process of self-actualisation and fulfilment; something intrinsic to her very being. Encompassing her soul and RnB inspirations, ‘Salty Feelings’’ lyrics explore unreciprocated emotions through a journey of the senses, oozing her themes of self-love and confidence.

"Salty Feelings goes out to the times when my love for someone wasn’t reciprocated while still acknowledging the power I behold. In the journey of healing, I realized it was crucial for me to honor my feelings, both positive and negative. This is the song that is honoring my feelings for me to shed my old self and to be what I am meant to be" - Jacqui

Born in South Korea, spending her childhood in China, and moving to the U.S in her teens to study at Berklee College of Music, Jacqui’s pursuit and adoration for music was awakened through the soul-stirring sounds of Erykah Badu’s Baduizm. Growing as a musical force to be reckoned with, her single ‘White Clouds’ appeared on the hit Netflix series My Holo Love, alongside the 2022 EP release Birthday (생일and earlier three-track release ‘Mama Told Me’ that featured collaborations with O’Domar, G2, and Q the Trumpet.

“Life is a journey; a big mixture of unexpected experiments and experiences to find my own true self. I am constantly re-existing and ever-evolving as a new being, shedding layers of whatever I was before.” - Jacqui

This October, Jacqui will soundtrack her bold next steps onstage for SXSW alongside other Korean artists ADOY, Lil Cherry and Meaningful Stone, embarking on her sonic metamorphosis, traversing themes of reflection and growth; of unleashing, facing, accepting, healing, returning, and repeating.
