Sri Lankan-born, Naarm-based singer-songwriter and producer, ANUJA, unveils his Dream Pop single, 'Your Stranger' 

Introducing Sri Lankan-born, Australian based singer-songwriter and producer ANUJA, who is set to release his new single, ‘Your Stranger’, on Wednesday 28 January. This dream pop track offers a romantic exploration of existentialism, focusing on the dynamic between presence and eternity in a loving relationship. ‘Your Stranger’ is a romantic take on letting go of the search for cosmic certainty, instead celebrating the tangible value of the present moment spent with the person you love. 

‘Your Stranger’ was recorded and self-produced by ANUJA in his home studio, capturing the intimate message of the track amongst his ethereal voice-forward production. Making music primarily in English, glimpses of Sri Lankan music he grew up with grace his melodies and vocal riffs. ‘This song is a conversation between two lovers. It’s one person saying, I don’t know what will happen between us in the bigger sense; whether we’ll go to heaven, whether there’s reincarnation or rebirth, whether we’re twin flames or soulmates. I don’t know. But what I do know is that in this moment, we’re together’ - ANUJA

A self-taught musician and producer, ANUJA records, produces, and mixes all his music from the intimacy of his home studio while balancing a career as a doctor. Growing his career across Naarm’s vibrant music scene and songwriting circles, ANUJA has built a loyal fanbase drawn to his poetic lyricism and cinematic production.  ‘I am also a doctor, balancing a medical and music career. It can be challenging to manage time between the two disciplines, but I try. I am aiming to specialise in psychiatry. Perhaps, subconsciously, my day-to-day exposure to human vulnerability and mortality finds its way to my lyrics.’ - ANUJA
