Lifting the layers on her innermost thoughts, Australian songwriter Tig is gearing up for the launch of her debut EP Inside Voices out Thursday 1 February and announcing an EP launch at The Evelyn Hotel in Fitzroy on Friday 23 February. Ending a lengthy stint in the legal industry, Tig traded in her corporate career turning her focus instead to writing music, a passion she’d long forgotten. After cultivating her sound in quiet, 2023 saw Tig win the hearts of listeners with her first two singles ‘Too Late Heartbreak’ and ‘Gingerbread House’ and her sell out debut show at The Gasometer Upstairs resonating strongly. In 2024 Tig prepares to unearth another chapter with the songs of Inside Voices now ready to become outside voices.

‘After a long time away from music, I encountered two things when I tried to start writing this EP - a loud inner critic and a lot of things I was afraid to say. I stumbled across the words ‘inside voices’ that I’d written on a piece of paper years earlier and I realised that’s what the EP was about. Challenging the notion of using an ‘inside voice’ so as not to disrupt, while also questioning my own internal voice that wanted me to play it safe.’ - Tig

Keen to look inward and nurture her first body of work intuitively, Tig wrote and recorded the Inside Voices EP from her home in Naarm/Melbourne. As the songs took shape, she brought in trusted collaborators to finesse the final collection, working with Jono Steer (Angie McMahon, Leif Vollebekk) who co-produced and mixed the EP at Dare Studios, and featuring strings arrangements by Ainslie Wills and percussion by Holly Thomas (Quivers, Husky).

A lover of good stories, Tig’s debut EP is a thought-provoking journey with a feel-good ending as she traverses an honest account of her self-discovery pursuits. Diving headfirst into the unsteadiness of big change, the opening track ‘Arrival’ captures the conflict of stepping into the unknown while still holding onto the past. This complexity unravels further as ‘Ran Into Myself Today’ explores the many versions of self uncovered through growth. Turning to matters of the heart ‘Gingerbread House’ reflects on the harsh realities of past mistakes, before the debut single ‘Too Late Heartbreak’ offers some closure through the disguised optimism of a not-quite-love-song.

Although you might not guess it, I am a romantic at heart. I love dramas that end with a sunset, books that bring you closure, and albums that feel like a movie when you listen from start to finish. These songs were written in order alongside chapters that were unfolding in my life. It was a really formative time for me and I love that these moments will forever exist together on the EP.’  - Tig

Already a seasoned performer, Tig has a remarkable ability to stir up emotions right from the core as she delivers her deeply personal stories with echoes of collective empowerment. Tig has captivated audiences at venues including The Triffid (QLD), Miami Marketta (QLD) and Fed Square’s (VIC) main stage, has opened tours across Australia for the Pierce Brothers and Kim Churchill, and was featured on the locals stage at Tones and I’s Music in the Park 2023, alongside a line-up including The Veronicas, Budjerah, The Cat Empire, and more. Tig will be launching Inside Voices on Friday 23 February at The Evelyn Hotel, joined by Flynn Gurry and marigolden.
