NEW SINGLE: Audrey Powne 'Feed The Fire' + signs with UK label BBE

Producer and multi-instrumentalist Audrey Powne signs with UK label BBE and releases powerful new single ‘Feed The Fire’
+ Atjazz and musclecars remixes out 2 February

UK-based Naarm/Australian grown producer and multi-instrumentalist Audrey Powne is kicking off 2024 with a fiery single ‘Feed The Fire’ from her forthcoming From the Fire LP to be released through her new home at independent UK record label BBE. Joining the roster alongside J Dilla, Roy Ayers, MF Robots and more, Audrey’s new single 'Feed The Fire' is the first taste of forthcoming paths in her work, a self produced sound championing future jazz and soul genres.

Out nowFeed The Fire’ was written and produced by Audrey at Sing Sing East Studios in Naarm/Melbourne and mixed by Russel Fawcus (Mo'Ju, Kylie Auldist, Slum Sociable), and mastered by Grammy award nominated Frank Merritt at The Carvery in London. Composed in response to the Australian Bushfires of 2019, Powne’s honeyed vocals and harmonies shimmer amongst a landscape of strings and brass, with neo soul melodies that nod to her home in Melbourne’s music scene amongst the likes of Hiatus Kaiyote and 30/70 and poignant lyrics to question the powers that be.

“It speaks to the constant anxiety my generation feels about climate change and the unwillingness of the government (particularly the Australian government at the time) to connect events like the 2019/20 bushfires to the climate crisis. The dark harmony and dramatic strings serve the fire metaphor of the burning and ominous future we are looking towards.” - Audrey Powne

‘Feed The Fire’ Instrumental + musclecars + Atjazz Remixes out Friday 2 February

The full single package, out Friday 2 February, includes the instrumental version not available on the vinyl LP and remixes by BBE stalwarts Atjazz and the New York maestros musclecars. Producer duo musclecars, Brandon Weems and Craig Handfield, have been turning heads in underground circles with their genre blending remixes and deep respect and appreciation for the roots of dance music. Joining the musclecars remixes, producer, engineer, DJ, and ‘Atjazz Record Company’ owner, Martin Iveson aka ‘Atjazz’  has added his signature styles to the moods and rhythms in Audrey’s composition and translated them into certified dancefloor bangers.

"I’ve been waiting some time for something new to bite me, Feed The Fire was not only a pleasure to remix but is just a genius piece of work in its original form.  I see a great future laid out for Audrey Powne and her creativity both as a singer and player, what a breath of fresh air.” - Martin ‘Atjazz’

Audrey’s style is hard to pin down, from hook-laden synth pop songs to long form cinematic soundscapes, RnB ballads and free jazz improvisations, there are few genres she has not touched. Her prowess in Melbourne jazz and soul scenes has seen her lead various pop/RnB projects Leisure Centre and Au Dré as both a vocalist and trumpeter, embarking on numerous co-writing and string-arranging collaborations with local artists  Thndo, Kylie Auldist and The Wanderers, and performing across Melbourne and International music scenes with acts including Maceo Parker, Midnight Oil, Jimmy Barnes, Jose Gonzalez, Masta Ace and the Grammy nominated band The Teskey Brothers, and more.

Embracing all evolutions as a musician and composer, Audrey explores new territories, as reflective as they
are cathartic, unleashing her forthcoming creative vision.
