Get ready, for beats, bassline, and melody at its hook-soaked best when Naarm based trio The CB3's new single 'Hooked In' hits the airwaves on Friday 18 August. The infectious instrumental is the first offering of new music for 2023 and from their forthcoming album Six Castles, slated for release Thursday 9 November. A blend of their class-act musicianship and rare gift of both conviction and restraint, this new work follows the collective's 2022 EP Bunny Hop and continues in their creative prowess of defining new parameters for contemporary music.

'Hooked In' is produced and engineered by guitarist, frontman, and bandleader, Cristian Barbieri in Six Castles Studios with Lachlan Carrick on mastering duties, and is perhaps the trio’s most intricate arrangement to date. Building on hip-hop inspired and groove laden bass lines, the track features a slew of sneaky scintillating melodies laid upon a cracking crisp drum beat drenched in their genre bending style that is equal parts unbridled and deliciously refined.

The CB3's have captured the hearts and dancing shoes of audiences across the world, through international tours, festivals including Melbourne International Jazz Festival, sold-out launches (Howler, Melbourne) and head-turning collaborations (Leikeli47, Jessica Mauboy, Thando, Harts and Remi). Their 2022 EP, Bunny Hop, which Bandcamp described as 'everything the title implies: a giddy, buoyant EP full of leaping jazz and funk grooves', saw them playlisted across Spotify, with support from community radio including Triple R, PBS FM, 2ser, 4ZZZ, and more, and the limited vinyl release shipping to new fans across the U.S, U.K, France, Italy, Germany and Japan. 

Their forthcoming album Six Castles is a labor of long term friendship between the creative conglomerate of Barbieri (guitar), Caleb Shand (bass) and Tim Coghill (drums) and their knack for not only a tune but a feeling: one that permeates, captures and transforms, amongst their funk, jazz, RnB and neo-soul blend.
