MUSIC NEWS: Record Store Day 2024 Announce Local Release List

 

Record Store Day Australia unveils stacked 2024 local release list w/ The Wiggles, Montaigne, Ian Moss, Tasman Keith, The Terrys and plenty more. 

Following on from a gangbuster 2023 event that saw Australian record fans scramble to nab exclusive vinyl from the likes of Peking Duk w/ Darren Hayes, Ball Park Music, Bluey, Ocean Alley, Underground Lovers and more, Record Store Day Australia have today unveiled their local release list for 2024, and as suspected, it’s another big one.

Held Saturday 20 April, Record Store Day 2024 is rolling out the red vinyl carpet and welcoming true Australian icons and genre superstars like Dorothy the Dinosaur and The Wiggles, Montaigne, Ian Moss, Tasman Keith, The Terrys, Sons of the East, James Johnston, Lord Knows and Deep Faith to the RSD Australia celebrations

Elsewhere, outfits like Died Pretty, GOD, Magic Dirt, Tumbleweed, Hard-Ons, Sunset Strip, The Mad Turks, The Meanies and plenty more will make up a double LP compilation of Australian music with Time Capsule. Australian Sounds. 1985-1994. 

These world-class Australian outfits accompany the Official Record Store Day release list boasting specials from Kate Bush, Olivia Rodrigo and Noah Kahan, David Byrne and Paramore, ATEEZ and more.

To an independent artist like Montaigne, Record Store Day offers the chance for fans to get their hands on a vinyl pressing of their coveted debut Glorious Heights almost a decade after its release, while simultaneously supporting Australia's indie record stores. 

“I’m so excited to finally release Glorious Heights on vinyl after years of demand," they say. "I’m also stoked that I could do it in partnership with Record Store Day and support independent retailers of music as I embark on my own journey of independence.” 

For more than 15 years, RSD has been a cornerstone event in the calendar for independent record stores across the world, taking over the third Saturday of April for a colossal day of RSD exclusives, instore performances, boundless crate digging, artists signings and more
