NEW SINGLE: Seetali 'Poison and Wine' featuring Kaiyah Mercedes

SEETALI shares new single ‘Poison & Wine’ featuring long time collaborator Kaiyah Mercedes; a song for anyone who struggles with vulnerability

Naarm based music multi-hyphenate Seetali Mack returns with her first new music of 2025. Deeply committed to collaborations in her craft, Seetali worked alongside poetic songwriter and singer Kaiyah Mercedes on ‘Poison & Wine’; a song designed as therapy for those who struggle with openness and vulnerability. Like yin and yang, or indeed poison and wine, Kaiyah’s profound lyrical openness and introspection pairs with SEETALI’s balanced and complimentary production.

Out Wednesday 23 July via Xelon, ‘Poison & Wine’ sees SEETALI expanding on her compositions, fusing diverse genres and storytelling amongst her signature production styles and sounds. No stranger to collaborating together, working on SEETALI’s previous single ‘Angel Eyes’ and a remix of Kaiyah’s release ‘How To Get Over You’, ‘Poison and Wine’ was co-written by the two, centering Kaiyah’s powerful vocals amongst a stripped back ballad style track. ‘Poison & Wine’ was inspired by SEETALI’s reservations with vulnerability, and the scars left behind when you are let down by people you trusted in.  “It’s a bittersweet truth about accepting not everyone’s going to be sorry, or care to the same extent you are and how for your own headspace you need to learn to accept that, and sometimes you need to be your own form of closure.” - SEETALI

“Working with Seetali means working with the full extent of my creativity. she brings out the most in the art and together we made a song that is truly special." - Kaiyah Mercedes

Raised in a household where live music was the heartbeat of daily life, her musical journey as a guitarist and SEETALI later turned to prodcution—discovering new avenues for expression through lush soundscapes and vibrant melodies.  SEETALI has worked with numerous independent artists, including, Kevin Silvester, and most recently, 2024 Music Victoria Award nominee Magdalia. Expanding into screen composition, Seetali was nominated for a Visionnaire Award for Best Score in 2023, with her work also recognised at the 2024 St Kilda Film Festival. To date she has released a body of work that has garnered over 1.5 million streams on Spotify—serving as a dynamic portfolio of her skills in production, songwriting, and collaboration. Her debut album It’s Not You; It’s Me entirely self-produced and written—features contributions from 10 Naarm/Melbourne-based artists, with each track offering a distinct sonic identity while contributing to a cohesive narrative. The album received critical acclaim from Mixdown Magazine, Scenestr, and Music Feeds, along with national and international airplay, positioning SEETALI as a versatile creative force across multiple disciplines.

Mentored by Sophie Forrest and Beatrice Lewis (Haiku Hands) through The Push’s Electronic Music Accelerator, Seetali later participated in APRA's 321 Session with Ben Stewart (Slowly Slowly) and was selected as one of two interstate participants for Women of Music Production Perth’s 2023 Writers Camp, where she collaborated with Jaguar Jonze, Sparrows, and Stella Donnelly. More recently SEETALI has stepped into her own as a mentor, now working as a songmaker mentor for APRA AMCOS.

With a bold artistic vision and an ever-expanding body of work, SEETALI is shaping the future of music, one meticulously crafted track at a time!
