+ Announces hyper-ethereal-pop debut album NEXT

Music as art, music as therapy, music as humanity, music as home

Naarm-based alt-pop aesthete and multidisciplinary producer Prudns releases their first new music of 2023 with the single ‘Goodnight’, out Wednesday 9 August and announces debut album NEXT. Channelling a unique brand of what the artist dubs ‘hyper-ethereal-pop’, combining their penchant for writing meaningful piano ballads, with a love of ethereal synths, soaring vocals, and hyperkinetic club beats, 'Goodnight' is the second single taken from Prudns debut album NEXT due for release onFriday 3 November.

Out Wednesday 9 August via Gyrostream, ‘Goodnight’ delves into the emotional complexities of heartache, through Prudns’ musical safe stronghold, surrounded by a moat of liquid love and bastions of defiant, bold self-expression. "Last year, I was at a precipice: do I follow my musical dreams or commit to a relationship? 'Goodnight' was written after I made the decision to focus on music. It is an anthem for those in-between feelings, like when you love someone but aren't able to be with them."- Prudns

Their most daring and raw work to date; an invitation for listeners to step into their inner world of carefully thought out, forward thinking innovations worthy of their maker’s own nom de plume, NEXT was entirely self-recorded and produced amidst Prudns’ month-long residency at 4000 Studios in Meanjin.
Promising a transformative art-pop experience; an emotional, richly melodic odyssey into the brightest hues of love, the darkest corners of heartache and the dizzying heights of boundless possibility. Written after a painful breakup, the album explores the relationships that shaped the beginning of Prudns’ twenties—both romantic and platonic—in all their beautiful and complicated forms. Emotionally wrought vignettes of love lost and found are soaked in reflective storytelling, rinsed with nostalgic lust, wrung through the iron grip of retrospect, and hung up to dry upon the lofty breeze of hope.

“I want people to feel inspired, connected, free, powerful, and vibrant when they listen to my music. I want people to feel empowered, no matter what they are going through. I want my music to resonate with people like me, the artists, the highly sensitive, the feelers, the queers. I want people with big feelings to know that they are normal and beautiful.” – Prudns

Prudns released their debut EP Tinka in 2021 which saw them selected for multiple songwriting and mentorship programs including the AIR Women In Music Mentor Program, the ALWAYS LIVE 321 Songwriting Sessions, and the Airlock Studios Immersive Program based in Pru’s new home of Brisbane. Collaborating with the likes of NineTiss, Velvet Bloom, and Mirabel, Prudns’ has performed with Telenova on the Melbourne leg of their 2022 tour and their self-taught production prowess has received radio radio play across major local and national radio stations Triple J, Triple R, PBS, 4ZZZ, JOY FM and SYN.

As one of the country’s most exciting new acts, this next chapter for Prudns invites listeners old and new to take solace in and marvel at the exquisite sonic oasis they have so prudently built. Come right in, and make yourself at home. Let’s see what happens next.
