NEW SINGLE: Tig 'Gingerbread House' + Live Video

Tig’s undeniable vulnerability resonates in second single ‘Gingerbread House’
+ Forthcoming debut EP Inside Voices

Naarm-based songwriter Tig reveals an endearing vulnerability with her second single ‘Gingerbread House’ out Wednesday 8 November. Following her debut single ‘Too Late Heartbreak’ – a playful anti-love song which premiered on Pilerats Tig now shares ‘Gingerbread House’ a deeply personal post-break- up reflection and the next taste of her forthcoming debut EP Inside Voices set for release on Thursday 1 February 2024. Written with the unfiltered honesty of a letter never intended to be seen, ‘Gingerbread House’ is released alongside a stripped back live performance video that captures the intimacy of this confessional song.

Exposing what feels like a diary-worthy secret, ‘Gingerbread House’ has taken on a life of its own; ‘I wrote this song as a form of letting go, it was never meant to exist permanently. But when I performed it live, people started sharing their own stories with me after the show. I realised the song was healing not just for me, and that was really special’ says Tig. Released through AWAL, written and recorded in Tig’s home, and co-produced and mixed by Jono Steer at Dare Studios, ‘Gingerbread House’ follows a climactic build with Tig’s developing lyrical narrative amplified by a cinematic string section arranged by Ainslie Wills, and the passionate percussion of Holly Thomas (Quivers, Husky).

‘Gingerbread House’ is about being out of your depth and not knowing how to get back. It’s shattering the rose coloured glasses and experiencing the things you don’t see in movies and magazines.’ - Tig

Filmed in the setting winter sun, the accompanying live video was captured by visual storyteller Riah Jaye. A beautiful kaleidoscope of golden light and shadows reflects the innermost thoughts and feelings imbued in the track, a picturesque backdrop to Tig and her keyboard.

‘This song for me is quite confessional and we wanted to capture the intimacy of that. Filming it at home with Riah and Harley felt very personal and therapeutic, much like the day this song was written’
- Tig

Set for release on Thursday 1 February 2024, Tig’s debut EP Inside Voices, unravels loose threads and ties them back together again; packaging emotional turbulence, with a hint of sparkle and empowerment. The four track work meanders through an honest account of her own self-discovery; a debut collection of sonically dramatic inner revelations that journeys through released singles ‘Too Late Heartbreak’ and ‘Gingerbread House’, and soon to be released tracks ‘Arrival’ and ‘Ran Into Myself Today’. ‘This EP feels like breaking free of a tiny box and stepping out into the world with eyes wide open’ - says Tig

‘In writing the EP I was grappling with two things - my critical internal voice, and also the quiet ‘inside voices’ we use when we’re trying not to disrupt. I got better at acknowledging them with a grain of salt and finding the courage to say what I wanted to say anyway’ - Tig

No stranger to big stages, Tig has supported artists across venues including The Triffid (QLD), Miami Marketta (QLD) and Fed Square’s (VIC) main stage. She has recorded backing vocals for the Pierce Brothers, and supported them on tours interstate, as well as being invited to perform as part of Kim Churchill’s 2022 Picnic in the Paddock lineup, then later supporting his 'Dawn Sounds Tour' in the early months of 2023. And, if that wasn't enough Tig was selected for the Australian Independent Labels Association’s (AIR) Women in Music Mentoring Program 2023 receiving mentoring from renowned Australian songwriter Ainslie Wills.
