NEW ALBUM: The CB3 'Six Castles' + launch show at The Gaso

Get ready for sizzling jazzy goodness as The CB3 unveil their debut album Six Castles
+ Album launch at The Gasometer Hotel

Get ready for sizzling jazzy goodness at its hook soaked best as the debut LP Six Castles from The CB3 has finally arrived, out Thursday 9 November. Flipping all instrumental expectations on its head, this release is jam packed with  hard hitting grooves, tender lullabies and everything in between, as well as guest appearances from some of Naarm’s finest. In celebration of the release of Six Castles, the trio is bringing their funk, jazz, and experimental blend to the stage at The Gasometer Hotel, supported by soulful vocalist and songwriter Priscilla Stanley, on Thursday 16 November

Six Castles is an album of firsts for The CB3, their first full-length album release, their first complete writing collaboration between all three members, their first self produced album recorded in Cristian’s home studio, and their first to be mixed by them. Writing sessions, long form jams, dad jokes, and more, met the ad-hoc chaos of home recordings, shared headphones, hanging blankets for sound treatment, and the result; a debut LP that is equal parts transportative, experimental, and refined.

"Most of our sonic decisions weren’t laboured over, we trusted our instincts. The room we tracked in is so ad-hoc. We hung moving blankets to help deaden the sound, shared headphone mixes, nearly ran out of channels to record with and were squished into a pretty tight space. But we made it work and I think you can feel the grit, rawness and honesty of it all." - The CB3

With something for everyone Six Castles is The CB3 at their most raw and honest, collaborating with renowned trumpeter and performer Audrey Powne on ‘Raw’, and songwriter and violinist Xani on ‘Dark Shade Of Pink’, as well as the album's focus single ‘Pecan’; "a song for the nut lovers about Patty the pecan and his journey from growth and harvest to store shelves" - The CB3

Together The CB3’s long term labour of love and friendship has captured the hearts and dancing shoes of audiences across the world, through international tours, festivals including the Melbourne International Jazz Festival, sold-out launches (Howler, Melbourne) and head-turning collaborations (Leikeli47, Jessica Mauboy, Thando, Harts and Remi). Their 2022 EP, Bunny Hop, which Bandcamp described as "everything the title implies: a giddy, buoyant EP full of leaping jazz and funk grooves", saw them playlisted on Spotify's Instrumental Funk, with support from community radio including Triple RPBS FM2ser4ZZZ, and more, and the limited vinyl release shipping to new fans across the U.SU.KFranceItalyGermany and Japan.

Join them for a memorable musical evening at The Gasometer on Thursday 16 November when they bring Six Castles from their home studio to the stage!
