NEW MUSIC: On Diamond 'Letting The Wheel Go By'

On Diamond unveils ‘Letting The Wheel Go By’, a hopeful journey exploring past experiences to progress towards the present…

On Diamond
returns, unveiling the first glimpse of their next sonic chapter taken from their long-awaited second studio album to be released later in the year. Exploring the nature of trauma and a cyclic approach to acceptance and grief, Letting The Wheel Go By’ is set for release on Thursday 19 June via Naarm-based artist-run studio and record label Eastmint Records.

From 2019 to the present, On Diamond has been engaged with various projects, including the release of Remixes, a 2020 four-track collaboration with hellosQuare Recordings celebrating the anniversary of their revered debut album, hosted an 8-month-long residency at Cross Street Music Hall in Naarm, and focused on writing and recording their forthcoming album.

Continuing to blend a range of musical styles, traversing a multitude of genres, On Diamond takes an anomalous look at alternative pop through their improvisatory freedom of expression and effects, as well as their overall interactive group dynamic. 'Letting the Wheel Go By' features many of these characteristics that the band have become known for, experimental and unique sound palette, skilful and engaging songwriting, and a dichotomy of beauty and chaos. "The track speaks about patterned reactions to our surroundings and to others, shaped by past experiences. While they act as protective coping mechanisms, they often distance us from the present, including our present selves. The song reflects on the sticky nature of trauma and explores a cyclic approach to acceptance and grief. It hopes to move with the past into the present (and future) towards harmony and connection,"  Lisa Salvo from On Diamond

On Diamond's sound is inspired by folk, noise, rock, jazz, and improvised music, with lyrics that are both personal and poetic. Their 2019 self-titled debut album on Eastmint Records was celebrated as one of the year’s finest, receiving widespread radio support from community radio, including Album Of The Week on Triple R, 4ZZZ, and PBSFM, and nominations for The Australian Music Prize and Music Victoria Awards for Best Album.  Since forming in 2016, On Diamond has embraced an evolving line-up of well-loved musicians. The current ensemble features Lisa Salvo on vocals, Scott McConnachie on guitar and synth, Myka Wallace on drums, Jules Pascoe on bass, Duré Dara on percussion, and Genevieve Fry on harp, with previous members including Maria Moles, Hannah Cameron, Joe Talia, and Stewart Taylor.

Join On Diamond as they venture into a new evolution in their sonic journey.
