NEW SINGLE: Tig 'Morning Pages'

Following her Vanda & Young Top 10 Global Emerging Songwriters Award, Tig releases 'Morning Pages,' a balm for reformed perfectionists + upcoming show at Merri Creek Tavern

Returning with a balm for reformed perfectionists, Mornington Peninsula-based songwriter Tig releases new single ‘Morning Pages’, produced by Holy Holy's Oscar Dawson at Eddie’s Studio. Out Thursday 9 April via AWAL, following being awarded the Vanda & Young Top 10 Global Emerging Songwriter Prize for an unreleased track, this coveted honour is shared by some of Australia’s most celebrated contemporary artists.

A storyteller, deep thinker, and even deeper feeler, Tig’s latest single, 'Morning Pages,' is a comfort for fellow creatives and a bridge into her innermost world. To celebrate the single, Tig will be performing an intimate set at Merri Creek Tavern on Sunday 12 April, sharing songs both new and old, joined by local songwriter Kimberley

The song's creation was a direct result of a conversation with mentor and artist Ainslie Wills, serving as an essential reminder that music should be fun, and that means finding the things that restore joy to one's creative practice. Written one sunny afternoon on a bright deck, after listening to an achingly simple John Prine song, the making of this track became Tig's ultimate method for overcoming her perpetual struggle with perfectionism. Then, brought to life largely by Tig and Oscar and her trusted drummer Hannes Lackmann, the resulting recording was spontaneous and raw, honouring the song’s underlying lesson.

In Tig's own words: 'I wrote it in an hour with no edits allowed, recorded the vocals in one take, and left the secret sounds of my studio buried within the track. It’s one of the most humanly vulnerable songs I’ve made, but releasing it in all its realness feels like the perfect antidote to my inner critic’s antics.’

Inspired by her own dismantling and rebuilding over formative life chapters, Tig writes songs that unravel the beautiful messiness of growing up human. She has a remarkable ability to distil big emotions into dreamy folk-pop time capsules. Her intensely personal songs are steeped in hidden meaning and feel like treasured little truths shared between sisters. Her first body of work, Inside Voices (2024), co-produced with Jono Steer, drew rapid attention from the media, peers, and a growing cohort of dedicated fans. Labelled ‘unbelievable’ by Forte Mag, Tig’s debut EP sold out hometown headline shows, a secret 7-inch vinyl run and landed her support slots with Pierce Brothers, Kim Churchill and Ainslie Wills on major stages. Warmly welcomed by the local industry, the EP was featured by AIR, Pilerats, Beat, Triple R, PBS, and a host of community radio stations nationwide.
