NEW ALBUM: Xani 'An Inaccurate History of Electronic Dance Music + Tour

Xani releases concept album An Inaccurate History of Electronic Dance Music + album tour with dates across the East Coast and Adelaide.

“May this collection of songs transport you, inspire you and fill your hearts with disco smiles. This is my inaccurate history of electronic dance music, dreamed up straight from my heart to yours.”
- Xani

A fan of dance music and the philosophical spirit of the dance floor, Xani reimagines a limitless and timeless musical world with her latest album An Inaccurate History of Electronic Dance Music; a string-filled genre-expanding collection of collaborative and self produced tracks out now via CD Baby and Bandcamp. Whether a small steamy jazz venue, packed theatre, nightclub, or her bedroom on Twitch to thousands of followers, it doesn’t take audiences long to fall in love with her sound and voice. Awarded the ‘Best Musician’ at the Music Victoria Awards at the end of 2022, Xani now dances boundlessly across the country for an album tour with dates along the East Coast and Adelaide, and an album launch show in her hometown of Melbourne at the iconic Northcote Social Club on Thursday 11 May.

An Inaccurate History of Electronic Dance Music
is an acutely personal interpretation of electronic dance music’s evolution through the ages; a party album where chapter by chapter the (inaccurate) history of dance music is tracked by musical alchemist Xani and friends. The album weaves through the story of wide eyed naive ‘Michelle’, set to the track’s Hiphop laden groove, encircling the blurring world of acid house with ‘Movie Night’, and Xani’s two self produced titles; self revelation filled ‘Astrojet’ and UK Grunge inspired single ‘Road Trip’. As the first single ‘Dreaming of You’ dips into the story of disco and fictional lovers, with a nod to psytrance through ‘Truffle Pigs’, ‘Love Forever’ embodies the metronomic beats and lo-fi nature of Kraftwerk. Encapsulating the euphoric fast tempos and connection of ravers on dance floors with ‘B  U Want 2 B’, the journey finishes with all encompassing album closer ‘Whiplash’ -“…a fictional world of EDM genres according to me. Where violin is at the centre of it all! Is that even allowed?” - Xani.

An Inaccurate History of Electronic Dance Music has received support with the first three singles from ABC and community radio stations Triple R, Edge Radio, 4ZZZ, Radio Adelaide, and more as Xani delighted audiences on her regional Victorian and National tour throughout 2022. Now this dancing queen and her violin are heading out on tour across the East Coast, Victoria, and Adelaide.

Join Xani and her world of dance that she invites us all to be a part of!
