Ghost-Note returns to Australia this February with a fresh infusion of afrobeat, hip-hop, and psychedelia in Sydney, Melbourne, and Adelaide Fringe!
Pushing funk music into the future, imagined with their fresh infusion of afrobeat, hip-hop, psychedelia, and more, Ghost-Note returns to Australia bringing their explosion of sound during February. Lead by Snarky Puppy’s multi-grammy-winning percussion duo of Robert Sput Searight and Nate Werth, the eight-piece band will appear in Melbourne, Sydney, and Adelaide for Adelaide Fringe, celebrating their 2024 album Mustard n’Onions, presented by blaide.live.
After forming in 2015, Ghost-Note has taken the world by storm, featuring an expansive roster of next-level musicians — representing members of Prince, Snoop Dogg, Erykah Badu, Herbie Hancock, Kendrick Lamar, Marcus Miller, Toto, Justin Timberlake, and more. With albums that have reached #1 on jazz iTunes charts, the ever growing family of musicians has mounted successful headlining tours in the United States, Europe, Australia, New Zealand, Canada, and Japan and international music festivals and events across the globe. As a collective with rhythm at the forefront, their irresistible, heavy-hitting beats translate to an adventurous live setting that is bold and magnetic.
The band’s third LP Mustard n’Onions is a 15-track collection of supremely danceable goods, tracked primarily on tour breaks, during fun, hang-style sessions at a house/studio facility in Southern California. With sonic choices inspired by the collaborative songcraft of the collective, the album presents a story of an ensemble maturing and solidifying and finding an identity, and writing credits from nearly every band member across the release. Wrangling jammy openness into arrangement of striking clarity and precision, Mustard n’Onions is brimming with collaboration from a co-write by the group’s visionary bass player, MonoNeon, to psychedelic-soul-tinged numbers, and one of R&B/jazz hero Bernard Wright’s final recorded appearances.
“I feel like mustard stinks. I feel like onions stink. You put the two of them together … it’s just funky” - Robert Sput Searight, Ghost-Note
Bringing their seductive danceable grooves and contagious feel-good energy to stages at Liberty Hall, Northcote Theatre, and Lion Arts Factory, each show is an opportunity to let loose and connect, for both fans and musicians alike.
