NEW SINGLE: The Hackkets 'Friday' + New Label JOLT Studios

The Hackkets return with catchy new single ‘Friday’
+  Announce So Faar So Good album and new label home with JOLT Studios

Naarm based rock band The Hackkets are back with a new single ‘Friday’ out Friday 25 November and are thrilled to announce it’s lifted from the forthcoming album So Faar So Good due for release in early 2023 via the band’s new label home JOLT Studios. Through the wonderful team at Footscray Community Arts, The Hackkets were incubated over a 25-year period, helping them grow and develop their sound and creative vision, before handing over the incredible team at JOLT Arts who look forward to introducing The Hackkets to further audiences and opportunities with composer, artist and Director of the space James Hullick at the helm.

“It has been a great joy for JOLT Arts to welcome The Hackkets into our stable of core artists. We are all extremely grateful to Footscray Community Arts – who also incubated JOLT Arts for some years in the organisation’s earliest developments. The Hackkets and JOLT union has already been a blast and we’ve been laughing a lot, playing music and generally living the most beautiful of dreams. JOLT thanks The Hackkets for their love of life and their forthright commitment to sonic creation. - James Hullick

With an all-star cast ‘Friday’ is produced by The Hackkets, engineered and mixed by Robin Waters mastered by Jonathan Burnside and is a playful song that reflects on the time when songwriter Peter Tolhurst was busy most of the week and the only had time to himself were Friday afternoons. Backed by harmonies from bandmate Stuart Flenley, it’s a song about encompassing how busy people's lives have been. It's a message to slow down and enjoy time by yourself.” tells The Hackkets songwriter, vocalist and guitarist, Peter Tolhurst.

About JOLT Arts
What began as a sonic arts organisation in 2009, and while the disciplines of sonic creativity still lie at the core of the organisation, the JOLT team has expanded to include and combine a broad range of art forms and technologies within our curatorial vision. JOLT Arts is an inclusive arts organisation with charitable status that creates in-house new cross-disciplinary productions, whilst also supporting and presenting the work of other creators. They are known for introducing new cutting-edge work by local and international artists focusing on avant-garde creators across a range of contexts and abilities: artists of neuro-diversities, artists of youth, emerging artists and established artists.

Gigging for over two-decades, The Hackkets have performed extensively throughout Melbourne and beyond including at Adelaide Fringe Festival, Seddon Festival, Maribyrnong Inclusive Recognition Awards (MIRA), Murrindindi Festival and more. Singers Stuart Flenley (guitar/vocals), Peter Tolhurst (guitar/vocals) and Victoria Cini (keys/vocals), bring three distinctly different approaches to the songs they co-write in the band. Stuart merges his twin heroes Elvis Presley and Frank Sinatra with a sense of humour that invariably breaks through. At the same time, Victoria has crafted her own ‘Rock Chick’ persona through which she projects a rebel without a cause for the smart-phone generation. Rounding out the band is drummer Andrew Paganella who has been keeping the band in time since 1999. Of the drums, Andrew says, “I chose drums because I want to get somewhere to make the crowd jump out. Once I switched to drums I stayed.” The Hackkets also features Joe Vella on bass, composer, performer, recordist and multi-instrumentalist Robin Waters on keys, plus Dan Parsons as a very special guest guitarist.

Together they are an exuberant live force to be reckoned with!
