Groove to the experimental and refined instrumental riffs of The CB3 with their new single ‘Raw’ featuring Audrey Powne
+ Six Castles album out Thursday 9 November
+ Album launch at The Gasometer Hotel

Equal parts transportive, experimental and refined, Naarm based instrumental trio The CB3 drop the second taste in the form of ‘Raw’ from the trio's forthcoming debut album Six Castles. Out Friday 29 September, 'Raw' features the brass flair of renowned trumpeter and performer Audrey Powne, and follows the recently released ‘Hooked In’ - which premiered on LA’s KCRW. In celebration of Six Castles release on Thursday 9 November, the trio are bringing their funk, jazz, experimental blend to the stage at The Gasometer Hotel, supported by soul soaked vocalist and songwriter Priscilla Stanley, on Thursday 16 November

Produced and engineered by guitarist, frontman, and bandleader, Cristian Barbieri'Raw' is an encapsulation of the musical spirit and creative connection between Barbieri (guitar), Caleb Shand (bass) and Tim Coghill (drums). With a driving drum beat and subtle but distinct melodies, ‘Raw’ features Naarm based musician, songwriter, and trumpeter Audrey Powne with a haunting trumpet solo in the last half of the tune.

"It's not packed with extras like a Rolls Royce. It contains only the essentials. It's pure, it's minimalist, it's raw. When we recorded this, we loved it but realised the second half was missing something. Enter Audrey Powne. All of us have worked with Audrey in the Melbourne scene for years and it was obvious that her talents were the missing component to this track. She laid down her mesmerising solo and voila, track complete." - The CB3

The CB3 have captured the hearts and dancing shoes of audiences across the world, through international tours, festivals including the Melbourne International Jazz Festival, sold-out launches (Howler, Melbourne) and head-turning collaborations (Leikeli47, Jessica Mauboy, Thando, Harts and Remi). Their 2022 EP, Bunny Hop, which Bandcamp described as 'everything the title implies: a giddy, buoyant EP full of leaping jazz and funk grooves', saw them playlisted across Spotify, with support from community radio including Triple RPBS FM2ser4ZZZ, and more, and the limited vinyl release shipping to new fans across the U.SU.KFranceItalyGermany and Japan.

Out Thursday 9 November, their forthcoming long play Six Castles is an album of firsts for The CB3. Their first full length album release, their first complete writing collaboration between all three members, their first self produced album recorded in Cristian’s home studio, and their first to be mixed by them. Writing sessions, long form jams, dad jokes, and more, met the ad-hoc chaos of home recordings, shared headphones, hanging blankets for sound treatment, and the result; a sizzling debut LP laden in authentic jazzy goodness.

‘To us, Six Castles feels like the most honest version of our playing and our music. We really wanted to capture the truth of how we sound individually, but also as a band, and the beautiful thing about it is that we really didn’t have to try so hard. Most of our sonic decisions weren’t laboured over, we trusted our instincts.’ - The CB3

Don’t miss the trio this November at The Gasometer to really feel the grit, rawness and honesty of it all.
