Introducing the Australian Music Touring Network, a national venue platform to connect Australia's live music community

Australia's live music industry is taking a major step towards a more connected touring future with the launch of venue registrations for the Australian Music Touring Network (AMTN), a free national platform designed to connect original live music venues to artists, tour managers and industry professionals across the country.

Developed by the Australian Music Industry Network (AMIN), the Australian Music Touring Network will, for the first time, bring Australia's original live music venues together in one living, map-based directory. The platform is designed to make touring easier by helping artists and their teams identify suitable venues, discover new touring opportunities and build stronger connections across metropolitan, regional and remote Australia.

The opening of venue registrations marks the first stage of the platform's national rollout, with the full public platform launching later in 2026 for artists, tour managers and the broader music community.

AMIN represents Australia's eight state and territory contemporary music peak bodies: MusicACT, MusicNT, MusicNSW, Music Victoria, MusicSA, Music Tasmania, QMusic, WAM, and has developed the platform around a simple principle: music is local before it is national.

Whether it's a regional pub in Western Australia, a community hall in regional Victoria, an iconic city venue or an intimate café hosting original music, every venue plays a vital role in Australia's touring ecosystem. By bringing these spaces together, the Australian Music Touring Network will strengthen the connections that underpin successful touring and support a more visible, accessible and sustainable live music sector.

Original live music venues across Australia are now invited to register their venue for free and claim their place on the national map. Eligible venues include any physical establishment that presents original contemporary live music regularly, whether daily, weekly, monthly or at another regular interval. This includes dedicated live music venues, pubs, clubs, community halls, arts centres, cafés and other spaces committed to presenting original Australian music.

By joining the Australian Music Touring Network, venues will:

Become discoverable through Australia's first national directory of original live music venues.
Make it easier for artists, managers and tour bookers to find the right venue and make direct booking enquiries.
Showcase the venue's facilities, technical specifications, accessibility information, and performance spaces.
Highlight programming preferences, local knowledge and other information that helps touring artists plan successful shows.
Increase visibility to presenters, festivals, booking agents, local councils, government agencies and industry stakeholders.
Become part of a connected national network working to strengthen touring opportunities for Australian artists.

Who can sign up
A venue that regularly presents original contemporary live music, supports fair pay for artists, provides a safe and welcoming environment for artists and audiences, maintains an online presence, has a public booking contact, promotes live music performances (dry hire venues, such as a community halls or other multi-purpose venues are also eligible), and agrees to occasional contact from the Australian Music Touring Network to keep listings current.

With a collective goal of building Australia's touring future, artist-centred and industry-connected, AMIN works to strengthen Australia's contemporary music industry through collaboration, advocacy and locally informed national initiatives. The Australian Music Touring Network reflects this vision by creating infrastructure needed to support stronger touring connections across the country.
