Australian Music Touring Network launches a new free national platform making touring more accessible

Australia’s live music industry is taking a major step towards a more connected touring future with the launch of the Australian Music Touring Network (AMTN) website on 30 October 2026, coinciding with the 2026 Regional & Remote Music Summit in Mount Gambier, South Australia.

Developed by the Australian Music Industry Network (AMIN), the free national platform brings Australia’s original live music venues together in a living, map-based directory, creating a new resource for artists, managers, booking agents, tour managers and music industry professionals looking to discover venues and build touring opportunities across metropolitan, regional and remote Australia.

Designed to simplify tour planning and building, the AMTN website aims to bridge geographical distances and support connections in one central place, helping musicians find the right performance opportunities, connect with venue bookers, and map out potential national touring routes.

“I’m delighted to see MusicNSW’s Regional Touring Network (RTN) inspiring the development of the Australian Music Touring Network. The success of the RTN and the feedback we’ve received from artists about its value underpins this national expansion, and I look forward to all of Australia having access to this invaluable resource.” Joe Muller, Managing Director, MusicNSW

The interactive venue map features detailed venue profiles and powerful search and touring tools. Whether artists are planning their first regional run or industry professionals are coordinating a national tour, the platform makes finding and connecting with venues easier.

Users can browse the map to discover new venues or use filters to narrow down options, with each venue profile providing information to help artists assess whether a space fits their music and touring needs. Details will include capacity, preferred genres, opening days, booking contact information, technical specifications, accessibility, and local knowledge about nearby accommodation, food and transport options.

Users can also save venues to a Favourites list, making it easier to keep track of potential tour stops and build a shortlist of opportunities.

Beyond venue discovery, the platform's dedicated Touring function can create and organise regional and national touring routes and itineraries directly from the map. With the simple drag-and-drop function, users can view distances and approximate driving times between stops. Tour itineraries can then be exported to a spreadsheet and shared with teams, creating a ready-made tour book.

The platform also connects touring artists with another important part of the local music ecosystem: community radio. Through the Radio Stations function, users can explore community radio stations servicing the areas on their proposed touring routes. Developed with support from the Community. Broadcasting Association of Australia (CBAA), this feature provides another pathway for artists to connect with local broadcasters and audiences. Station profiles also link to amrap.org.au (Australian Music Radio Airplay Project), helping artists explore opportunities to engage with community radio.

For artists and their teams, reliable venue information and relevant booking contacts can be an important first step towards developing new touring relationships. For venues, being represented in a shared national directory creates an opportunity to improve their visibility and connect with artists whose music and audiences align with their space.

With a collective goal of building an artist-centred, industry-connected touring future, AMIN work to strengthen Australia’s contemporary music industry through collaboration, advocacy and locally informed national initiatives. The Australian Music Touring Network reflects this commitment by establishing practical infrastructure to support touring connections and opportunities nationally.
