New Single: Oceanique - 'Emotional Weight'

Heavenly Western Australian sister duo Oceanique reveal breathtaking new single ‘Emotional Weight’ + WA tour dates

Returning with their first new music in 2022 comes cherished Western Australian duo Oceanique with their wandering folk ballad ‘Emotional Weight’. The release follows in the cumulative wake of previous single ‘Hiding From You’ which saw the twin sisters, Maddy and Jess, introduce a new body of work on the way after the success of last year’s introductory EP Flowers From Home. ‘Emotional Weight’ is the second taste of Oceanique’s anticipated debut album, and sheds light on the growth of the sister’s songwriting and musicianship. In celebration of the release Jess and Maddy will be hitting the road once again for a run of Western Australian dates performing past gems and unreleased beauties across Albany, Bunbury, Bridgetown, Margaret River and Perth.

Out today, ‘Emotional Weight’ builds upon the ethereal harmonies and peaceful folk energies that the Oceanique sisters have come to be known by, with an inquisitive sense of wonder and awe. The song itself is as weighty as its title suggests, with its lyrics diving deep into the uncontrollable tides of time, space and memory, and its production reaching new heights with densely layered harmonies, keys and percussion making way for calming moments of pure vocal excellence, before imploding again into crashing waves of epic crescendos.

“‘Emotional Weight’ was a lot of fun to record, we added lots of extra harmonies to help carry the weight and emotion in the song. It’s a song about feeling a little lost within the push and pull of life.” – Oceanique
