NEW SINGLE: ELAURA 'LDDWYD' + Announces EP Cry Until We Laugh

Chilean-Australian artist ELAURA releases vulnerable new single ‘LDDWYD' (Love Don’t Do What You Did)
+ Announces debut EP Cry Until We Laugh

Delivering her most vulnerable unpacking of what love truly is, Chilean-Australian artist ELAURA is releasing her latest contemporary R&B, soul-infused single 'LDDWYD' (Love Don’t Do What You Did) and accompanying video on Wednesday 22 April. The new track joins her fierce declaration of self-worth with ‘That Ain’t It', as the next taste of ELAURA’s debut EP Cry Until We Laugh, out Thursday 21 May

'LDDWYD' (Love Don’t Do What You Did) is a raw meditation on love, heartbreak, and the painful clarity that comes when you realise someone you love can’t love you the way you deserve, because they don’t yet know how to love themselves. What started as a poem in the notes app,and a 30-minute session of pure artistic synchronicity and flow with bass player Daniel Rock, captures the introspective collapse of your inner world and hard truths. ‘Sometimes the most loving thing to do is leave the one you love because they can’t love themselves.’ - ELAURA

The video reflects that emotional journey through a quiet, solitary ascent filmed entirely at Flinders Blowhole. From sunrise to sundown, ELAURA slowly climbs the path overlooking the ocean, each step mirroring the internal process of moving through confusion, grief, and reflection. What begins as heartbreak transforms into acceptance, embodied in the song’s final line: I think life knows something I don’t.’. Director Patrick Manson was guided by ELAURA’s ability to listen to what her art is asking of her, ‘From the moment I first listened to the song, in the discussions that followed, and through to building its visual architecture- the entire process was guided deeply by the spirit of the song, and I feel the end result we achieved stands as evidence of that.’ - Patrick Manson

ELAURA’s new EP Cry Until We Laugh is a place to grieve, be curious, unfiltered, messy, righteous, fun, spiritual, furious. These songs tell a story about breaking the spell of toxic love, taking power and voice back, trusting life’s bigger plans, and discovering that what you have been searching for has been inside you all along. Each track unveils a new layer of this journey, moving through spoken word poetry, to RnB soaked grooves, melodies backed by a choir of harmonies, her storytelling interwoven in English and Spanish and closing the EP with aptly named ‘Find your feet’‘It’s full of hope, surrender to life, love and joy. It’s about overcoming heartbreak and struggle through leaning on community. I feel like I had to trust fall into the people I had no doubt would catch me, and love me while I was picking up the pieces of myself after heartbreak.’ - ELAURA on ‘Find your feet’

Born in Australia with Chilean heritage, ELAURA grew up in the forested valleys of the Dandenong Ranges, Victoria, a backdrop that deeply influences her soulful sound. On her artist name, ELAURA says, ‘It’s a mix of my first and second name, Emily and Laura. These are my grandmother and great aunt’s names, I decided to blend them because my artistry feels like a homage to the women that came before me.’ Drawing this sentiment into all her creativity, her music is steeped in storytelling, often weaving in her second language, Spanish. With a few releases out, ELAURA has had the opportunity to perform alongside the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra at the Sidney Myer Music Bowl and performs across iconic Melbourne venues, including Howler, Northcote Social Club, and the NGV. Her upcoming body of work journeys song by song, from heartbreak to self-worth, and gracefully paves the way for listeners to reflect on their own ability to heal through hardship.

Experience all shades of heartache and healing with this next chapter of ELAURA’s debut EP, Cry Until We Laugh.
