Tanya George shares a playful new music video with a 'Serious' message

Having just released her new genre-blending sound of soul, jazz, and pop, Tanya George is one of Australia’s most exciting and versatile performers.  Continuing to redefine boundaries, she is bold, dynamic and energetic, and now steps out with her full band, introducing them in her new visualiser for current single 'Serious'.  To celebrate, Tanya will be hitting the Northcote Social Club stage as part of Social Sanctuary on Monday 9 June; a free show performing alongside Canadian Folk/R&B singer-songwriter MEIWA and Vietnamese producer and songwriter Mỹ Anh for an unforgettable night featuring an all female lineup.

Stepping into the role of producer and mixer, in collaboration with Lewis Pidutti, with mastering by Lachlan Carrick, 'Serious' is the first taste off a larger body of work showcasing a new direction with an introduction her band Swithin Anthony, Liam Conroy, Leon Kechayas and Jesse Bear, "I knew exactly the vibe I was aiming for, I was most excited to get the band together and finally record a video of a song that we have been playing together, but is now finally released into the world," says Tanya.

'Serious' carries a strong message for women who feel dismissed and unheard, or are frustrated by one-sided relationships and people not taking others' dreams seriously. With raw feelings, smooth and faultless tight vocal harmonies, funky guitar chords, laid-back grooves, and punchy bass lines, 'Serious' is a playful musical twist on real emotions.

A regular on Australia’s festival circuit, Tanya has performed at major events including St Kilda Festival, Melbourne International Jazz Festival, Womadelaide, and Queenscliff Music Festival, and has collaborated with brands Frank Muller, Melbourne Grand Prix, Quintessentially & Moet Hennessy, Ralph Lauren, Australian Open Tennis, NBL Basketball, Melbourne Fashion Week and many more.

Tanya’s debut EP Sonder (2018), produced with Dingo Spender and follow-up Normality (2020) showcased her songwriting and vocal power, with tracks like “Normality” and “Writing Machine” topping Triple J Unearthed charts. Her music has received national airplay, Spotify playlist adds, and international write-ups.
