Danika joins the many songwriters in solidarity turning trauma into song and using music to heal with her latest single ‘FYA’ + announces Down Love EP release date and tracklisting

Songsmith and story seamstress Danika has never been one to shy away from speaking hard truths with her voice and guitar; facing honesty head-on with her next heartwrenching single ‘FYA’, out Thursday 9 February via Endless Recordings. After joining the WAT family and releasing singles ‘Coolshit Bullshit’ and ‘For My Baby’ in 2022, which combined saw Danika added to official Spotify playlists Indie Arrivals, Fresh Finds, Fresh Finds AU / NZ, Fresh Finds Folk, and Stay In Bed,FYA’ is the third and final single lifted from her forthcoming EP Down Love, slated for release on Friday 10 March.

Produced by Nick Hererra (Hiatus Kaiyote), ‘FYA’ sees Danika like many other women turn trauma into song, using her music as a healing mechanism, carrying her truth through candid lyrics and captivating melodies. Enlisting once again good friend Paul Bender (Hiatus Kaiyote), his metrical bass lines and layered percussion and drums by Naarm’s beloved experimental drummer Maria Moles, sit perfectly amongst the instrumentation and Danika’s message lies in a bed of harmonies from her 16-piece choir, their voices conveying the strength and synergy of women standing together; a story as painful as it is powerful.

“It’s about me saying I support you. A song of support for all women and all people.
Not feeling alone and being silenced. “
- Danika

Out Friday 10 March via Endless Recordings, this collection of five works builds on a mix of experimental folk and alternative and atmospheric production techniques bringing life to the pent up feelings and frustrations often kept behind closed doors. “These songs are an honest journaling of experiences in my life from the moments when they were written.
