NEW SINGLE: Velvet Bloom 'My Love' Single
Velvet Bloom returns with self produced single ‘My Love', a song about accepting and loving people for who they are
Soul soaked and excited to unveil their first new music of 2024, four piece outfit Velvet Bloom is releasing their upcoming single ‘My Love’, out Friday 12 July. Fronted by lead vocalist and visionary songwriter Maddy Herbert, Velvet Bloom's music transcends genres, taking you on a sonic voyage through their stories. ‘My Love’ is the first taste of the band's step into a new era of the project, carving out their celestial niche in the musical cosmos.
Stepping into the Producer role, Maddy Herbert is joined by long time collaborator and band member Alex Marko on engineering and mixing duties, on ‘My Love’ which pays homage to Motown’s vintage charm, captivating listeners with Velvet Bloom’s fusion of nostalgia and contemporary flair.
Maddy’s silky striking vocals sit amongst the groovy rhythm section featuring the slick guitar and bass riffs from Alex Marko, Miguel Hutton’s dynamic organ work, solid rhythms on kit from Nic Morton, and additional congas from Robyn Poppins.
“‘My Love’ is about accepting and loving people for who they are, meeting them where they are at and growing together. We really wanted to capture that classic soul sound for this release, leaning into lots of techniques and production styles used by engineers in that era of music” - Velvet Bloom
Velvet Bloom’s debut EP Glimmer served as a catalyst for their rise, released through independent label Cousin Will Records (The Grogans), and saw them tour nationally across Australia, and taking the stage at esteemed venues including Lazy Bones, The Night Cat, The NGV, Loch Hart Music Festival, MONA and many more. Their music continues making waves, with tracks added to Spotify Editorial playlists including The Local List, Soulful Day, and Fresh Finds, and appearing on ABC’s Spicks and Specks, their unique blend of soul, pop, jazz, and indie-rock capturing hearts across community radio Triple R, PBS FM, 4ZZZ, Edge Radio, 2SER, RTR FM, alongside Triple J, ABC, and more.
Take the next step on this otherworldly odyssey of Velvet Bloom.
