Gliding into the New Year with a new taste of their upcoming self titled debut LP, four piece soul outfit Velvet Bloom is releasing ‘Time’ on Wednesday 22 January. As they get ready for the album’s release on Friday 28 March. ‘Time’ flows on from previous singles ‘My Love’, ‘Silver Tongue’, and ‘Best In You’, the band are excited to announce that they have signed a distribution deal with Sunshine Coast based label Yama-Nui Records, with pre-orders for the album out now.
‘Signing Velvet Bloom is a testament to everything Yama-Nui Records stands for; authenticity, artistry, and connection. Their unique fusion of soul, jazz, and indie carries a depth that moves people, and their commitment to their craft is nothing short of inspiring. With Velvet Bloom’s undeniable talent and vision, we’re thrilled to support their path to becoming a defining voice in the Australian and global music scenes’ - Yama-Nui Records
Combining all the quintessential elements of soul pop, with driving grooves and lush backing vocals, ‘Time’ delivers their reminder to consider how your actions affect those around you. ‘Recording this one felt natural because I resonated with the lyrics at the time and could put that feeling into the vocal delivery. We all love playing ‘Time’ live because it has such a driving energy and already seems to be a crowd favourite’ - Maddy Herbert, Velvet Bloom
‘Time’s accompanying visual invites you into the handcrafted sanctuary of their upcoming debut album; a collection of videos and visuals that are a glimpse of what to expect for the LP. "With soil of satin, pebbles of pearl, fragments of flora and droplets of diamond we welcome you to the world of Velvet Bloom." - Maddy Herbert, Velvet Bloom
Velvet Bloom's music transcends genres; a sonic voyage through the cosmos with Maddy Herbert’s soulful prowess and lyricism serving as a beacon of authenticity, with each band member and musician adding their own flair to the group's project and kaleidoscopic soundscape. Working closely with Alex Marko on production to set the scene for each story, there is something on the record for old fans and new, from the collective band favourite and single ‘My Love’, to moments for the old fans with the easter eggs in ‘Nobody Else’ and folky reflection in ‘Realign’, and an instrumental reflective ‘Prelude’. Finding strength in raw and unfiltered tracks like ‘Best In You’ and ‘How Could I Ever’, the material doesn’t shy away from dark and painful moments like ‘She’s Gone’, and revels in the power found within music in single ‘Silver Tongue’, latest single ‘Time’, and ‘Only You’. The album closer features a celebration of their friends and family who were invited to come and sing on the track. "The support of our friends and family is why we feel able to continue writing, releasing and performing in the way that we do. We love our people so much and wanted to include them in this creation, ‘I’ll Love You Tomorrow’ was the perfect way to do that." Maddy Herbert, Velvet Bloom
Velvet Bloom’s debut EP Glimmer served as a catalyst for their rise, released through independent label Cousin Will Records (The Grogans), and saw them tour nationally across Australia, and taking the stage at esteemed venues including Lazy Bones, The Night Cat, The NGV, Loch Hart Music Festival, MONA and many more. Their music continues making waves, with tracks added to Spotify Editorial playlists including The Local List, Soulful Day, and Fresh Finds, and appearing on ABC’s Spicks and Specks, their unique blend of soul, pop, jazz, and indie-rock capturing hearts across community radio Triple R, PBS FM, 4ZZZ, Edge Radio, 2SER, RTR FM, alongside Triple J, ABC, and more.
