NEW SINGLE: Tanya George 'Unjust Things' Single from Upcoming Album Contrast
Following an appearance at Italy’s Roma Busking Festival, Tanya George releases new single ‘Unjust Things’ + with a powerful message
With vocal talents that have taken her all the way to the Roma Busking Festival in Italy, Tanya George is unveiling a powerful message with the next taste of her new sound ‘Unjust Things’, out Wednesday 9 July. Stepping out from behind her looping station, Tanya, along with her live band, is ready to dive headfirst into a soundscape of soulful pop and beats with this second taste taken from her long-awaited debut album, Contrast.
Channelling the confronting nature of feeling powerless, and how injustice shows up from our everyday lives to cruelties in the world, ‘Unjust Things’ echoes a melodic chant and call for empathy ‘I can't take it no more, no respect in the world that we're living for, unjust things, we do, we do, unjust things, we do, we do’. Weaving amongst intricate guitar riffs and funk-driven basslines, Tanya’s message cuts through the noise in a world increasingly consumed by disconnection and detachment. Amongst a social media dominated landscape, Tanya's artistry offers a profound counterpoint, delivering substance and soul to an audience yearning for authenticity. Her music serves as a powerful vehicle, delivering a deeply resonant message, inviting listeners to pause, reflect, and reconnect with what truly matters.
Currently travelling across Europe following Roma Busking Festival, Tanya is no stranger to her home festival circuit in Australia, having performed at major events including St Kilda Festival, Melbourne International Jazz Festival, Womadelaide, and Queenscliff Music Festival, and has collaborated with brands Frank Muller, Melbourne Grand Prix, Quintessentially & Moet Hennessy, Ralph Lauren, Australian Open Tennis, NBL Basketball, Melbourne Fashion Week and many more. In the lead up to her new singles ‘Serious’ and ‘Unjust Things’, Tanya has been busy collaborating with the King of the Australian Club Charts Jolyon Petch on the reimagined dance rework of The Cranberries 90s hit 'Linger', after Jolyon discovered her busking on Melbourne’s Bourke Street and was instantly drawn to Tanya’s voice, and he had to get her on his next record. To date, 'Linger' has made it to No.3 in ARIA Club Charts and No.1 on the NZ Aotearoa Charts, been spun on Nova 100, Fox FM and BBC Radio 1 in the UK, added to the hit network rotation, Apple Music playlists New Music Daily, New in Pop, and New in Dance on App and Amazon Music's Brand New Music.
With a busy 2025 ahead, upcoming performances at the Airlie Beach Festival in Queensland this November and the Folk, Rhythm and Life Festival in Victoria, jump on the Tanya George groove train.
