emphatic pop with ambition at every turn!’ - Triple J

Balancing catchy cinematic pop with heart wrenching honesty, Naarm based producer SEETALI releases her first new music of 2023 with ‘Angel Eyes’; a dedication to honour the passing of her childhood best friend. Out Thursday 20 July, the single features queer creator and vocalist Kaiyah Mercedes, and is the next taste of SEETALI’s debut album ‘It’s Not You; It’s Me’, slated for release Friday 27 October. Previous album singles released in 2022 include the collaboration with fellow Naarm producer Kevin Silvester ‘Love You Blind’ which collated over 600k streams on Spotify through a Twitch playlist add and the world of gaming, 2023 has already seen the young creative collaborate with Slowly, Slowly’s Ben Stewart through APRA’s 321 Session, and selected as one of the Women of Music Production Perth’s writing camp participants, mentored by Jaguar JonesSPARROWS, and Stella Donnelly.

Produced by SEETALI and out Thursday 20 July via Gyrostream, ‘Angel Eyes’ commemorates the one year anniversary of her childhood best friend's tragic passing. What began as a friendship formed by their two mothers became a 20 year strong relationship of growing up together, navigating teenagehood and endless future plans. Co-written with friend Kevin Silvester, the track captures the heartbreaking resilience it takes to move through grief, the faded memories and ghosts that walk alongside us and live in the moments that could have been, combining acoustic and electronic elements of production under the powerful yet hauntingly sweet vocals of Kaiyah Mercedes

“This is my way of honouring his memory and sharing the story with the world so others with similar struggles can relate and resonate. After 21 years of friendship, an unfortunate incident left my friend Jamo in critical care and sadly he passed on July 20th 2022. I was devastated by this loss and retreated from music for a few months. I actually thought that I’d give up on music, but some wise words from a mentor brought me back and I realised music was what would get me through this tragedy. Angel Eyes was my first composition after the accident and reignited my musical passions." - SEETALI

Collaboration and community are at the forefront of SEETALI's creation, ‘It’s Not You; It’s Me’ features contributions from 10 artists and vocalists, each track a standalone message and also part of the larger narrative. Out Friday 27 October, this debut album navigates the intimately woven introspections of relationships and the consequent lessons of heartbreak, transporting to a wonderland awash with cinematic synths and electronic pop amongst the crisp production of beatmaker SEETALI. Including singles ‘Love You Blind’, ‘walked away' - a track described by triple j’s Claire Mooney as ‘An endearing track that swells big emotion’, and home to the next single ‘Angel Eyes’, ‘It’s Not You; It’s Me’ paints an honest portrait of SEETALI’s relationship and endless wrestle with life’s emotions in love, loss, and grief.

First finding a love for music through her work as a guitarist, SEETALI developed and honed her craft as a producer; a new space for expression and songwriting through the lush soundscapes and vibrant melodies. Mentored by Sophie Forrest and Beatrice Lewis (Haiku Hands) through The Push’s Electronic Music Accelerator, participating in APRA's 321 Session and selected for Women of Music Production Perth’s 2023 Writers Camp, SEETALI strives to break through barriers for other diverse producers in her work and career, “I strive to be an example that others can look up to and relate to, breaking barriers and shattering stereotypes, so that every aspiring artist, regardless of their background, can find inspiration and see their own potential reflected in my journey”.
