NEW SINGLE: Danika 'Coolshit Bullshit' + Regional East Coast Tour

Danika returns with expressive new single Coolshit Bullshit+ announces east coast regional tour

This is far from the last time the world of music will be blown away by her powerful creations’ - Rolling Stone

‘Danika’s careful removal of her emotional chains is a humble, inspiring act that demonstrates both her vulnerability and her strength as a woman, and as a musician’ – Kate Crudgington, Get in Her Ears (UK)

Few transcend the borderlines of folk, soul and jazz quite as seamlessly as Naarm based songwriter Danika. Her honeyed vocals weave timelessly with her rhythmic storytelling in her latest single ‘Coolshit Bullshit.’ Set for release Thursday August 18 via Endless Recordings, ‘Coolshit Bullshit reveals Danika’s unique ability to imbue her work with both the earthy and otherworldly, highlighted by the sensitive production of longtime collaborator and Grammy award nominated producer Nick Herrera (Hiatus Kaiyote).  Eager to hit the road, Danika will welcome in spring by embarking on a 11-date east coast tour taking her from Ballarat, to Bellingen, Beechworth and back down to Melbourne in celebration of her first release for 2022.

‘Coolshit Bullshit’ is lyrically melancholic, yet a sonically hopeful song that tells a story of bittersweet boundaries and the nature of letting go, “it’s kinda like a helium balloon floating away on its lonesome, this song is a little bit sad, and lonely, but with a really fun soundtrack. It’s about finally recognising and expressing your needs, and eventually leaving a situation that made you feel small and undervalued. Leaving the things you know can be very sad and lonely, even if it's better for you, it’s far from easy,” reveals Danika.

Self directed with the assistance of Luke O’Hara and Kristen Auguard, the music video encapsulates different episodes of Danika’s life, like stop, start snapshots of the reminders of thoughts and feelings that have been stored away. Candid and emotionally raw, this imagery for ‘Coolshit Bullshit’ is a perfect expression of the unpredictable and memory driven experience of letting go and moving on.

2021 saw the release of ‘When Love Comes’, Danika’s long awaited EP delivering singles that received premieres from renowned UK broadcaster, DJ and record collector Gilles Peterson on BBC6, Rolling Stone Australia, Double J and airplay and adds on Australian Community Radio. Her emotional and poignant vocals are no stranger to the Australian music scene, having performed with the likes of 30/70 Collective, Allysha Joy, Emma Donovan and the Putbacks, Sampa the Great, Tomgirl, and Harmony Byne and the last few years have seen Danika play a colourful array of festivals including Strawberry Fields, Brunswick Street Music festival, Good Times Festival, Iso-laide, Adelaide’s Porch Sessions, and PBS’s Drive Live

Whether accompanied by her live band or simply alone with a guitar and her thoughts, Danika draws audiences in through her genuine storytelling. Don’t miss Danika emerging as one of the most exciting new songwriters and performers of 2022.
