MUSIC NEWS: Record Store Day Australia more local releases added

You Am I and Royel Otis join Record Store Day Australia, while Ruel, The Veronicas and Confidence Man imports fill out the Australian artists releasing in 2025!

When Record Store Day Australia unveiled a star-studded lineup for their 2025 Australian release list, sharing big names like Bluey, Pond, Dannii Minogue, The Saints, The Grogans, Ninajirachi, Maddy Jane and more, they promised there was still more to come.

That moment has arrived.

Today, Record Store Day Australia are thrilled to announce that Australia’s indie-heroes You Am I will be releasing their live album Someone Else’s Crowd for the very first time on vinyl. Released exclusively for Record Store Day Australia, this new edition will be pressed on classic black vinyl and feature brand new artwork. Royel Otis have also climbed aboard the Australian release list, sharing an exclusive pressing of their Nashville Sessions EP.

These two acts join a sensational lineup of Australian artists added to the local import list, which features Confidence Man, Ruel and The Veroncias. The full list of Australian releasing artists is available now via recordstoreday.com.au.

Recorded in 1994 at Memorial Stadium in Seattle while on tour with Soundgarden, Someone Else’s Crowd captures a defining moment in You Am I’s rise, setting the stage for their seminal second album Hi Fi Way, which celebrates its 30th birthday this year.

For nearly two decades, Record Store Day has been the ultimate tribute to indie record stores worldwide, offering rare vinyl, live performances, artist signings, and more. This year will be no different. On Saturday 12 April, Record Store Day 2025 will see over 200 independent record shops from all across Australia burst with limited-edition vinyl, special events, live in-stores, and special activities, cementing its status as a treasured day for music lovers and collectors alike.

Beyond the records though, the event underscores the essential role of record store staff in preserving our music culture and fostering community connections, shining a spotlight on the unsung heroes of the music industry who champion new music, share their expertise, and help keep vinyl culture alive, one record at a time.

Record store locations are wide and varied, extending to states like Northern Territory, South Australia, Western Australia and Tasmania and crossing over through regional centres like Bendigo, Coffs Harbour, Wollongong, Albany, Darwin and Cairns, demonstrating the social fabric that record stores provide in all corners of the nation.

So, whether you’re crate-digging for hidden treasures, supporting your local record shop, or just soaking up the unbeatable atmosphere, Record Store Day 2025 has something for everyone.
