“Some light, airy and beautiful pop folk. The harmonies!!!” - Lu Hill, triple j
Western Australian sister duo Oceanique are back with another harmony filled folk song ‘Like I’m Living’, from their long awaited debut album due for release in 2023. Fresh off the back of the duo’s nomination for the Australian Folk Alliance ‘Youth Folk Artist of The Year’ alongside local musicians Anna & Jordan, Ella & Sienna, Sadie Mustoe and Sari Abbott, ‘Like I’m Living’ showcases the twins' undeniable enchanting songwriting and musicianship. With previous sold out shows in Albany and Fremantle on their last tour, Jess and Maddy are excited to be hitting the wide open roads of WA once again performing new and unreleased songs alongside their full band and in duo mode.
Out Thursday 15 September, ‘Like I’m Living’ is an upbeat and uplifting story of change, perfectly capturing its daunting nature but holding on to that sense of wonder and awe. This anthem of growth and learning features the exquisite harmonies the Oceanique sisters have become known for, and catches both peaceful folk and ethereal pop sounds through its delicate production and rhythmic elements. The lyrics explore the concept of uncertainty, questioning what we need and look for in those moments, and build a narrative with layers of instrumentation and the twins' calming moments of transcendental vocals.
“Like I’m Living is a song about navigating life in your early 20s, when we wrote this one, we both were finishing our studies and it really felt like we were stepping into the real world. We felt life shifting, things around us changing and we were standing in the centre watching everything move.” - Oceanique
Whether performing as a duo or with a full band, the undeniable musical chemistry of Oceanique has seen the sister act building their audience through touring and selling out shows across their home state, and sharing stages with WAM award nominees Tracey Barnett, Tanya Ransom, and Emily Barker. Their dedicated following spans across the country, with radio support from Double J and community radios stations 4ZZZ, Triple R, PBS, RTR FM, ABC Southwest, Denmark FM, and more. Do not miss your chance to catch this cherished Western Australian duo for their ‘Like I’m Living’ tour, stopping in Albany, Fremantle, Margaret River, Manjimup, and more.
