Emily Lubitz reveals new single 'My Rita,' a collaboration with Harry James Angus, alongside the pre-order for the Two Black Horses album

Unveiling the next country tinged taste from her upcoming album, Emily Lubitz is back with the final single ‘My Rita’, ahead of the release of Two Black Horses on Friday 18 July, with vinyl pre-orders now available via Bandcamp.

Out Thursday 3 July, ‘My Rita’ is a story of forbidden love, written from the perspective of Emily’s dad about her mum. Created alongside long time collaborator and husband Harry James Angus (The Cat Empire, Jackson Jackson), the track delves into disapproving parents, love triumphing over all. Previous tracks from the forthcoming LP Two Black Horses have garnered support from Apple Music's New In Country and Southern Craft, as well as Spotify's Heaps Country, Chilled Country and Tapestry editorial playlists, think sound of an old Hollywood film, starring Dolly Parton, Patsy Cline and Phoebe Bridgers, who go on holiday together and talk about their feelings. 

Produced by Emily’s husband and long-time collaborator, Harry James Angus, Two Black Horses is a deeply personal collection of songs that speaks to heartache, heritage and hope with the opening title track ‘Two Black Horses Tumbling Out Of The Snow’ featuring a recording of Emily’s mum and uncles singing a Swiss folk song. ‘Big Time’ and into the tender ache of being a mother with a dedication to her kids in ‘Stay Tender-Hearted’. The nine track work touches on impressions of unconditional love in ‘Everything Good Is Somewhere Else’, with themes of home and holiday in ‘Kardashian Winter’ and ‘My Summer Holiday’, and her parents' story of forbidden love in the current single ‘My Rita’. From the current single ‘Don’t Worry You Got Time’, the album closes with 'Too Old To Die Young’.  "The song was originally written about passing the age of 27 and feeling like I’d dodged a bullet. With the whole 27 club thing. As I get older, it takes on new meanings. Having Jordie Lane sing with me on this track was very special," explains Emily Lubitz

Through Tinpan Orange, the gates opened wide to radio attention and a fast growing fan base, and Emily went on to appear on SBS’s Rockwiz, dueting with Paul Dempsey and singing the viral YouTube sensation, Dumb Ways to Die. She has collaborated with the likes of Paul Kelly, Martha Wainwright, Jen Cloher, Emma Donovan and Mama Kin, and yet her solo work is imbued with the raw energy of a breakthrough artist.
